What's
Next?
On May 17th, The Congregation of St.
John's made one of the most important decisions in it's long
history. We voted overwhelmingly
to construct a new Church building on our
existing property. Many people have asked now the vote has
been taken, "what's next"? The following
is a brief summary of the initial steps being taken to
implement the decision.
Executive Build
Committee
Following the
important vote of May 17, plans are underway for the next
step on the way to a new worship center for St. John's.
The names of
volunteers for an Executive Build Committee will be shared
with the church council at their meeting on June 11.
With the approval of the council members, the Build
Committee will be comprised of two groups functioning
independently of each other yet in communication and support
of each other. One group will be charged with the task
to gather opinions and information regarding the ranking of
aspects of a building in importance, financial support, and
building features. The other group called the "Bricks
and Mortar" people will be reviewing the information
gathered from the Vision group and begin the task of
designing and planning the new build.
Once the basic
plan for the building begins to take shape, the council will
be inviting a professional fund-raiser to St. John's for a
capital funds campaign. Opportunities to serve on a
variety of specialized committees will be arising as the
process continues.
We will continue to update you on the progress of these
and other sub committees being established on a regular
basis as the months
progress.
