Gatekeepers

MISSION:
As the Saturday service is less formal than the
Sunday services, there are no ushers, acolytes,
or assisting ministers. The goal/mission of the
Gatekeepers is to assist the Pastor by
performing some of these functions.
HOW IS THIS DONE:
On Saturdays, the Gatekeepers arrive early and
unlock the doors, take the flowers for the
altar, place them in the vases and put them on
the altar.
They put the small table in the double door
entrance and place the bulletins on it.
They set up the altar with the communion items
and assist the Pastor at communion time by
serving the wine.
They light the candles before the service and
extinguish them afterwards. They also take the
offering at the appropriate time.
After worship they put away the
communion items, make sure all doors and windows
are closed and locked and all lights are off.
MEETINGS: We have no meetings. Anyone who
attends the Saturday service on a fairly regular
basis can volunteer to become a Gatekeeper by
contacting Pastor or any of the current
Gatekeepers. Training is done at Church before
the service. We would really like to have a few
more volunteers and then you would only serve
about once every other month.
